Hoping everyone managed to fill their boots in the great Aldi sell-off? Sue managed to bag a stash of SNPA at 99p.
Away from SNPA, but still on the cheap tip, ASDA are doing Dos Equis Amber for 99p.
Arriba!

It would be rude not to...
So g funk is visiting glasgow. I had this idea, see? to get some SNPA in....you know, in case we fancied a wee brew...
Found that the offer in Tesco is still good - 4 for 3: making it cheap...also Oddbins are back in stock, but at the slightly more costly rate of £1.99 per bottle. But its all good, rrrriiiiight?

The house of trembling madness, stonegate, york

Interesting beer choice, decent food (rubbish service tho)
and one of the best beer shops ever
I counted 6 different Sierra Nevada's

like lemonade but made with gliss?
another trip to BM. another SN to try.
life can be tough in the city but it has it's little perks...
the bottle says a mellow taste that slides across the palate with layers of subtle malt flavour balanced by a touch of delicate European hops.
i say it's bloody lovely.
6.4%....too easy to drink is the only problem.
life is tough.
(£2.20/bottle)
...still not been brave enough to crack open the big boy yet. will keep you posted.

big brother
i would give you the link for the website of the fabulous utobeer stall at Borough Market but at last peek (30 seconds ago) it's the same "new website coming soon..." sign that was there last year when i first looked. if they ever get it going (and please please do mail order) then all of my beer woes may be over, they have an amazing selection of beers - and as far as i'm aware the wideset selection of SN this side of the pond.
a curry night meant i needed some beers and a trip to BM seemed the logical choice. after my usual 10 minute stare at the beer selection before i located the SN section (i'm sure they move it every bloody week) i was left with a rather prickly decision....
pale?
kellerweis?
stout?
porter?
13th release harvest wet hop ale?
chico estate harvest?
all of the above?
a mix of pale and kellerweis seemed a good choice and just couldn't resist a big big bottle of 13th release harvest ale (£7).
as soon as i drink the beast (6.7%) i'll let you know what i think.
maybe back next week for the chico...

Kind of related !
In my search for the ever elusive SNPA I was given a heads up that Sefridges in the Traford Centre had some in stock, another reason to be in that den of iniquity gave me the chance to check, no SNPA to be found but a nice choice of other stuff including
Little Creatures Pale Ale from Aus is very nice
Anchor Steam is as you no doubt know.... very nice
Pacifico Clara from Mexico is interesting
Leffe/Duval/Kriek etc
Its not SNPA but it'll suffice :-)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Stout now currently available at, the awesome, Corks Of Cotham, Bristol. £2.09 a bottle now. Damn the exchange rate.
Tasting notes here.

Tesco, Milngavie...
Back atcha with £1.67 a bottle and a full shelf. In taking said bottles to cashier, she inadvertently dropped a bottle on the ground....burst open and all that hoppy goodness went to waste....it brought a tear to my eye.
Meanwhile, on the on-line front, Beers of Europe have a good range, including a reasonable price on SNPA and some dogfish head brewery (recommended)...check it...

Heresy...
If we're paying £1.99 in Oddbods for SNPA why not pop over to Peckhams and scoop some Brooklyn East India Pale Ale. Mighty fine, but, at a stonking 6.9%, you'll need your wits about ye. Feel like manning up? They also do the Porter at 10%....

beyond the pale
a busy week for SNPA watchers in london last week.
but wait.
what's this alongside the pale?
KELLERWEIS!
m+t managed a trip to the island queen (see my previous post) and enjoyed the SNPA on tap (too much doc?).
phil joined us on tuesday and after a comedy car thro puddle soaking our gang of 4 intrepid SNPA watchers needed some on tap refreshment. porterhouse on maiden lane (just off covent garden) has a huge selection of bottled beers (including SNPA) and a wide selection on tap as well - we felt obliged to try some of their own selection - TSB and brainblasta (their spelling not mine) - both tasty but not good enough to keep us from the SNPA on tap - £4.25 a pint (i'm pretty sure).
a fine effort in the continuing mission to seek out SNPA wherever it may be served...
with m+t on the way i nipped to utobeer @ borough market to stock up. after the obligatory bacon and egg bap from Maria's caf(f)e i hit the beer stall. along with SN stout and porter they only had 3 pale's, as everyone knows that's not enough to entertain dRjon for long.
PANIC!!!
but wait.
what's this alongside the pale?
KELLERWEIS!
i'll have some of those please.....yoink.
according to the SN website this is a year round production and i'm very glad about that - a tasty brew "reminiscent of ripe banana and spicy clove". yum.

Price hike.
Oddbins are now at £1.99 a bottle. Hard to deal with the extra, but they do seem to have a steady supply. Also some of the Porter in stock...very tasty...
